“Who are all these people?” I asked.

“My family,” he answered, contentment in his eyes.

“You said you was an orphan. That you didn’t have no family.”

“Ah, Teenie…” He put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me close. “Sometimes

you ain’t related to your family.”

 Welcome to

Anna Land

As a Southern Writer, I love when someone from New York or the Mid-West tells me how much they love my work and how they connect with my characters. There is a distinct pattern of how things are done in the south- an odd, lovely, unique way of doing things that is both facinating and mysterious to outsiders. I equally love when a fellow southerner recognizes themselves, family or circumstances, for better or worse, within my words.
Parked is my debut novel. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I am currently working on a companion novel due out next year.

Favorite Excerpt of the Week:

After midnight, when Dell and I were alone, I rested my head on his chest as we

lay on the couch in the dark staring at our Christmas tree. The aluminum can disks

reflected the soft colored lights. It was the prettiest tree I’d ever seen. I took a deep

breath and let it out slowly.

“It smells like pine-scented beer in here.”

“Yep," he agreed. "It smells like Christmas.”

Favorite Character of the Week:

  CASEY "DELL" DELLMAR

Twenty-six years old, Dell lives in his dead mama’s trailer and has a reputation for

dating high school girls. He's everyone's buddy; a good-time guy. He's got his sights

  set on Teenie.

“Nice to meet you, Teenie.” Dell took my face firmly in his hands and kissed

me again. My body became weightless as his mouth, heat and hands drew me into

him. With a moan, Dell turned away from me abruptly as if in pain and slipped off

into the darkness of the night, leaving me dizzy, panting on the deck steps of the

  trailer."  -Chapter 15, Parked
